NOSHIRO TANABATA TENKU NO FUYAJO

Making a comeback after nearly a century, the grand Tanabata lantern floats, including ‘Chikasue’ towering at 24.1 metres—the tallest castle-shaped lantern float in Japan—and ‘Karoku’ at 17.6 metres, will illuminate the streets of Noshiro City in a splendid parade, joined by other lively Tanabata floats.Enjoy this ancient tradition, and feel the energy of the local people from a reserved front-row seat.

TENKU FES 2025

Noshiro Tanabata Tenku-no-Fuyajo: August 2-3, 2025.

Did you know? The image of ‘Chikasue’, Japan’s tallest castle lantern float, was used in the stage background of NHK’s Kohaku Uta Gassen (a popular annual New Year’s Eve television musical special in Japan) broadcast on New Year’s Eve in 2022.

So be sure to come see the actual Chikasue and Noshiro Tanabata’s other popular floats up close this summer!
